Lyle Rexer es un escritor, comisario de exposiciones y crítico de arte afincado en Nueva York. Es colaborador de la revista Photograph y ha escrito para muchas otras publicaciones como Art in America, Aperture y Modern Painters. Entre sus libros se encuentran The Edge of Vision: The Rise of Abstraction in Photography y How to Look At Outsider Art. Recibió una beca Rhodes y actualmente da clases en la facultad de la School of Visual Arts de Nueva York.
